GLS (Sadguna & B.D.) College for Girls – Empowering Women through Education

Established in 1966, GLS (Sadguna & B.D.) College for Girls in Ahmedabad is a premier institution dedicated to women's education and empowerment. The college was formed through the merger of two esteemed women's colleges: Smt. Sadguna C.U. Arts College for Girls (1966) and B.D. Arts College (1956), both under the aegis of the Gujarat Law Society (GLS). This merger, the first of its kind in Gujarat, was aimed at providing enhanced educational opportunities for women, particularly from underprivileged backgrounds.

Affiliated with Gujarat University, the college offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) program with various specializations, including English, Hindi, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, and Sanskrit. The curriculum is designed to foster academic excellence, critical thinking, and holistic development. With a student body of approximately 593 female students and a dedicated faculty of 15 members, the college ensures personalized attention and a supportive learning environment.

The college is committed to the overall development of its students, offering a range of extracurricular activities such as sports, National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC), and cultural programs. Notably, students have excelled in various fields, with achievements including national-level sports medals and leadership roles in NCC and NSS.
